Helping Grandpa

One bright and sunny day Samantha and her little white kitten, Snowball went out into the back yard to see what Grandpa was doing. Grandpa was hard at work pulling weeds. Samantha asked Grandpa if she could help. Grandpa told her that the tool he was using was to sharp for her to use. Samantha told Grandpa that she had her own tool to use. With a slight chuckle in his voice, Grandpa told Samantha to bring her tool to him and he would give it a look over. Samantha ran into the house with her little white kitten following close behind. She quickly looked in her toy box and located her small plastic shovel. Scooping Snowball up in her arms she ran back outside holding her little plastic shovel and her little white kitten Snowball in her arms.
"Grandpa, Grandpa," shouted Samantha, "I have just the right tool right here!" Grandpa scooped Samantha up into his lap and said, "Well lets just have a look here." Carefully turning over the little plastic shovel, Grandpa told Samantha that he did not think this tool would do the job. Samantha put her most determined look on her face and said, "Grandpa, I just know this tool will work." "I will dig and dig till all the weeds are gone!" Grandpa told Samantha that he was willing to give her a chance and would pay her $20 if she could get all the weeds out from around his tomato plants. Samantha put a BIG smile on her face and told Grandpa, "Yes, sir" and started working hard on digging up the weeds around the tomato plants. Thirty minutes later Grandpa stoped what he was doing to check on Samantha and to his amazement Samantha had dug up all the weeds around his tomato plants! He gladly paid Samantha her $20. Samantha jumped up and down for joy and her little white kitten, Snowball went "Mew, mew, mew.'
The End
(This story is about JC when he was 4 years old. He did go outside with his toy plastic pirate sword to help Grandpa get the weeds out of the garden. Grandpa was just so sure that plastic pirate sword would not cut the weeds down so Grandpa did offer JC $20 because Grandpa thought he would not have to pay JC! But to Grandpa's surprise JC did take a weed in one little hand and would whack away at that weed with his plastic pirate sword in his other hand until the weed did give away to the pressure and break off in his hand. Grandpa never did say he had to take the roots out too! And Grandpa did pay JC his $20!)

Watermelon for lunch

It was a bright sunny summer day and Samantha was having lunch with Grandmother on the back porch while Samantha's little white kitten Snowball sat at her feet. After lunch Samantha helped Grandmother clean up and then Samantha asked Grandmother for a piece of watermelon. Grandmother cut Samantha a nice big piece of watermelon and let her take it outside to eat. Grandmother told Samantha to not get her nice new dress all messy with the watermelon juice. Samantha answered, "Oh, Grandmother" I promise to keep my new dress nice and clean!" A little later Grandmother went to check on Samantha and found Samantha sitting in her little swimming pool eating her piece of watermelon. Grandmother exclaimed, "Samantha, what are you doing sitting in a pool of water with your dress on?" To which Samantha replied, "Grandmother you told me to not get my new dress messy so I went into the pool to eat my watermelon so that I would not get watermelon juice on it." Grandmother just laughed and laughed at this and Samantha's little white kitten, Snowball went, "Mew, mew, mew!"
THE END
(This story is about Paulina who did get a piece of watermelon from Grandmother and Grandmother did tell her to not get her new dress messy. Paulina did take her watermelon out to the back yard but once outside Paulina took ALL her clothes off and then got into the little swimming pool with her watermelon. When Grandmother came outside Paulina did tell Grandmother that she took all her clothes off so they would stay clean! Grandmother did think this was very clever of Paulina AND this is when Grandmother taught Paulina how to spit watermelon seeds across the edge of the pool.)

Planting Vegetables

Samantha awoke to a bright sunny day and after she dressed herself she put her kitten, Snowball on her bed and brushed Snowball. When she was done Snowball went "Mew, mew, mew." Samantha and Snowball went into the kitchen to ask Grandmother what to do. Grandmother told Samantha that she could help plant some flowers for her. Grandmother, Samantha and Snowball went outside to the shed and Grandmother gave Samantha a small shovel and a packet of flower seeds. Grandmother explained that the seeds were from flowers that grew in her garden last summer and that these seeds would grow into new flowers. Grandmother showed Samantha how to dig a hole and put a seed in the hole then cover the hole with dirt. Samantha worked planting flower seeds near the back porch while Grandmother worked on planting flower seeds near the shed. When Grandmother was all done she went to see how Samantha was doing. To her surprise she saw that Samantha had planted many rows of seeds. Grandmother asked Samantha where she had gotten more seeds from and Samantha answered, "Grandmother I ran out of seeds so I went into the house and took a packed of frozen peas out of the freezer and planted each pea one by one. That way when the peas come up you won't ever have to buy frozen peas again!" Grandmother laughed and laughed and the little kitten Snowball went "Mew, mew, mew." Grandmother agreed with Samantha that this was a good way to grow peas.
The End
(What really happened was that JC at the age of 4 did take frozen peas and corn from the house and he did indeed plant them but he planted the whole package at once! And just like Samantha in the story he believed that peas and corn would grow if planted this way and it would save me lots and lots of money because anytime I wanted peas or corn I just needed to go out into my garden and pick the ones he planted.)

5 Dresses for a Princess

Samantha had gone shopping with her Grandmother to a very special store that only sold princess dresses. Samantha now had 5 beautiful dresses hanging in her closest. She was so excited that she could not sleep and decided to get up and try on "all" the dresses. She took them all down from the closet and laid them out on her bed. Snowball her kitten looked up from where it was sleeping on Samantha's pillow and went "Mew, mew, mew" as if to ask 'What is going on?"

Samantha tried on first the beautiful blue dress with all the lace at the bottom. She stood in front of the mirror and turned around and around in circles so she could see the dress from all angles. Then she tried on the beautiful white dress with the red jacket. Oh she looked so special in this one! Then Samantha tried on the beautiful purple dress with the little white gloves and said to Snowball, "Oh, Snowball, this is the most beautiful dress in the whole wide world!" Just then Samantha's bedroom door opened and Grandmother was looking in to ask with wonder in her voice, "Samantha, do you realize that it is 3 am in the morning?" To which Samantha replied, "Grandmother these dresses are so beautiful that the just twinkled like little lights in my closest and I just could not sleep." To this Snowball the kitten, added "Mew, mew, mew."

(This story is a true account of when Paulina did come to visit Grandmother in December 1999 and they went to Daisy Kingdom to purchase 5 beautiful dresses for Paulina. Grandmother did wake up at 3 am because she could hear Paulina singing in her bedroom. Grandmother went to Paulina's door and heard Paulina singing a made up song; "This dress is beautiful. I am so beautiful" over and over again. When Grandmother went into the room Paulina was standing on the middle of her bed with one of the new dresses on and all the other dresses were all over her bed as well as her new shoes, socks and all her new shoes. You could not see the bed for all that was on it! What Samantha said about the dresses being like little lights, Paulina said that she just could not sleep because the dresses told her they were sad and lonely and wanted to be worn right away!)

Helping Samantha know her big brother JC and big sister Paulina

Samantha Sue McCulloch was born on Saturday, November 27, 2010; six weeks premature. She is a beautiful little girl with the sweetest personally and because there is 21 years difference between Samantha and her big brother JC and 17 years difference between Samantha and her big sister Paulina I wanted to create stories to tell Samantha that would be about the things JC and Paulina did when they were little so that Samantha would get to know them better. Only in the stories I would tell Samantha Sue, the star of these stories would be a little girl named Samantha and her little white kitten Snowball. At the end of each story I will post what really happened and to whom.

So enjoy!
